If you see the television or movies of today, you might think that what they show is true and develop some perceptions regarding something. Things like setting up nation against nation, team against team, how women are to be looked as sex objects and the more fair & better body the woman has, the more attractive she is. How a person who has big muscles, smashes people, smokes cigarettes in style, picks up girls at the bar is a cool dude and so on.
For example TV ads which keep on promoting fairer looks for women saying how fair girls are more attractive to men and so on. Thus trying to put into innocent young girls that they need to look fair and apply fairness cream or else they are not wanted. Same goes for how thin and perfectly shaped women body is desirable and how such & such product will transform your life. The video below shows all varieties of message that the beauty industry tries to communicate to young girls.
There are a lot of movies who show violence, aggression and promoting how the guy who is the most powerful is respected so much. Basically being rich and powerful is the way to go whereas poor people are looked down upon. Countless examples can be given as to how the media is trying to manipulate certain behaviours, create bias and prejudice between mankind. We should not allow the media and movies to manipulate our behaviors and teach us as to what is wrong or right and learn from authentic and bonafide sources the real information.
Today being fair is cool, tomorrow being fat will be marketed as being cool, today smoking in style is cool, tomorrow drinking in public and bullying an innocent person will be marketed as being cool. It just depends as to where the money is coming from and anyone or any company’s agenda. From elections to stock markets lot of manipulation is done in the main stream media to promote misinformation, so we should be careful to not fall into the trap.
So let us not be victims of biased information from the media and don’t listen to media with an open heart.
